  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • 2 fresh jalapeños, finely chopped
  • 1 large yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 4 sturdy burger buns
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Finely chop the jalapeños and onion.
  2. Shape the ground beef into four 6-ounce patties.
  3. Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat with a drizzle of oil. Sear the patties for 3 minutes without moving them.
  4. After three minutes, smash each patty down firmly with a spatula, sprinkle chopped jalapeños and onions on top, then flip after an additional two minutes.
  5. If using cheese, add it after flipping and cover to melt.
  6. Assemble burgers on toasted buns with your choice of toppings and serve warm.
